The Natural Therapies Certification Board is now accepting applications from experienced acupressurists interested in helping us build a viable and vibrant presence in the professional  community.

Attention: Certified Acupressurists

Certified acupressurists are invited to transfer their certification from any recognized certification organization to us by completing the Application for Reciprocal Certification and mailing it to Headquarters with your check or money order; or emailing it to Headquarters or via Pay Pal. lease attach your educational credentials/certificates of completion.

 

Level I: Certified Acupressure Technician  - 150 Hours of Study

  •   Copy of Certification from school or training facility
  •   Proof of Anatomy and Physiology course
  •   Complete an approved course on Professional Ethics
    • Candidates are required to have studied and passed a Professional Ethics course which includes: values clarification, mission statements, Code of Professional Ethics, informed consent forms, and time management skills.

Level II: Certified Acupressure Specialist    600 hours of study

  •   Copy of Certification from school or training facility  

·         Introduction to Chi//Ki

·         Yin/Yang

·         Eight Principles

·         Five Elements

·         Seven emotional factors

·         Elements and meridians

·         Biological clock and meridians

·         Fourteen Meridians/location lines

·         Fourteen meridians and emotional states

·         Six Pernicious Evils

  •   Moxibustion cautions and indications
  •   Magnet cautions and indications
  •   Tonification cautions and indications
  •   Cupping cautions and indications
  •   Acupressure diagnosis by means of:

- Sight
- Touch
- Smell
- Questioning
- Testing body rigidity/flexibility
- Sixth sense (Intuition)
- Spiritual insight

  •   Key acu-points on ears, tongue, face, hands, and feet
  •   Introduction to Chakras
  •   Self-acupressure therapy
  •  Candidates will be expected to know: active listening skills, reflective listening, supporting others, endorsing others, offering choices, and making requests of clients. They will also be expected to know how to demonstrate and teach self-acupressure techniques for at-home therapy for continued energy rebalancing.

Level IV: Diplomate in Acupressure    300 hours of study  (1,050 hours total)            

  •   Meditation
  •   12 organ meridian pulses on wrist
  •   Excesses and deficiency in pulse reading
  •   Eight strange flow meridians
  •   Advanced Chakra studies
  •   Exemplary lifestyle: knowledge/experience/wisdom
     
  •   Candidates would be expected to learn the function and application of Intermediate Acupressure Skills, as well as the cautions and contraindications when using those skills. In addition, they should know how to make assignments, request clients to ask self-investigative questions, and prompt client to embrace self-empowering thoughts. They will also be expected to have a more in-depth understanding of the basic esoteric (ancient and spiritual) aspects of Acupressure, which prepares the acupressurist to transmit their skills, knowledge, expertise, and wisdom to their clients. Also, candidates should have a basic knowledge of key acu-points in the ears, face, tongue, hands, and feet.
     
  •  Candidates will be expected to learn the function and application of Advanced Acupressure Techniques, as well as the cautions and contraindications for using those techniques. They will be required to continue expanding their study and knowledge of Acupressure, with greater emphasis placed on the traditional and esoteric dimensions. Candidates for Level IV certification will be expected to know and understand, through personal experience: the psychological, spiritual, and physical benefits of regular meditation practice; the physiologic affects of compacted mental and emotional energy; the correlation between specific emotions and its affect on related meridians; the spiritually inspired, informative wisdom contained in each of the chakras, and the influence of the external environment (weather, seasons, noise and air pollution, etc.) on overall health and wellbeing. 
     
  •  Candidate must include two letters of recommendation.

Certified Acupressure Instructor     

  •  Currently certified as a Diplomate
  •  Organizational/leadership skills
  •  Communication skills
  •  2 letters of recommendation from qualified and experienced Acupressurists
  •  Pass the NTCB Acupressure Instructor Certificate Examination

Certified Instructor Program

Certification as a Certified Instructor requires concurrent certification as a Certified Master Reflexologist, Diplomate in Acupressure or both and the completion of the Free Short Course for Instructors.  Upon completion of this free short course, qualified applicants may petition the Education Committee for certification as:

  •  Certified Acupressure Instructor (CAI)

  •  Certified Reflexology Instructor (CRI)

  •  Both a CRI and a CAI
