Pain or Stress Management Certification Requirements
The NTCB is offering yearly certification as a Certified Pain Management Technician (CPMT) or Certified Pain Management Specialist (CPMS) or a Certified Stress Management Specialist (CSMS), or Certified Stress Management Coach, or Certified Stress Management Technician (CSMT) for professionals who meet the following criteria:
Pain Management or Stress Management Technician
45 CEU Basic Skills Training covering the required Clinical Skills, Basics and Practicum
10 CEU Professional Ethics
- Creating your image as a professional
- Developing your code of professional conduct
- Client confidentiality
- Obtaining required client information
- Handling delicate situations
- Working with other professionals
- Advertising & promoting yourself and your business
10 CEU Creating an Approved Informed Consent Form
10 CEU Professional Practices
- Building a professional network
- Making referrals to other professionals
- Using and becoming a mentor

Pain Management or Stress Management Coach or Specialist
The professional may earn this designation upon completing the following. There is no additional fee for an upgrade if your dues are current:
- Intermediate/Advanced Studies totaling 40 CEU
- Anatomy & Physiology Course - 30 CEU
- Basic Coaching Skills Workshop - 30 CEU
- 500 Hour Internship - 50 CEU
- Professional Exam in your modality (no CEUs is awarded for the Exam)

Currently Certified by BCIA
The NTCB offers a three-year certification as a Certified Pain or Stress Management Specialist for professionals who meet the following criteria and complete the current BCIA application:
- If you hold current BCIA certification in biofeedback or neurotherapy, you may obtain a CPMS for $95 per year by submitting a photocopy of your BCIA certificate for verification. Renewals are $65/year.
- If you qualify above, you may also become certified in both pain management and stress management for $25 for each additional certification.
